Scarborough Beach is one of Perth’s most popular tourist attractions and an icon of WA’s famous beach culture. Backed by $30million of WA state government funding and $27.4million from the City of Stirling; Scarborough Beach underwent a radical transformation that included a new heated outdoor swimming pool, recreational area and skate facilities.
The vision of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority aimed to create one of Australia’s best beachfront destinations and improve the area’s reputation as a family destination, cultural precinct and tourism hot spot.
Guardian Tactile Systems was contracted to supply and install over 3 thousand 316 marine grade stainless steel tactile indicators to make the facilities compliant with Design for Access and Mobility AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009. Warning tactiles were installed above and below stair ways to provide warning of the change in elevation for the vision impaired. Warning tactiles were also installed on footpaths at the intersection of a road to provide warning of automobile traffic danger.
Guardian Tactile Systems won the tender because of their capacity to supply and install large quantities of stainless steel tactiles to a tight deadline. Guardian Tactile Systems has a reputation of supplying top quality products and completed many large projects in Perth.
