Guardian Tactile Systems have won many tenders for supplying tactile warning indicators to the grounds of various educational properties including: Murdoch University, Mundaring Christian College, and Saint Norbert’s College, Swan Catholic College, Mandurah Catholic College, Secret Harbour High School, Morley Primary School and numerous educational institutions throughout Australia.
Guardian Tactile ground surface indicators are used to warn school children and adults who are vision impaired that they are approaching a hazardous situation. This hazard may be a fence, a ramp, set of stairs, a street crossing, or an overhead obstruction that could lead to their injury.
The Guardian system is a new generation solution for instant, durable and aesthetically pleasing tactile ground surface indicators. This unique product blends style and versatility within a system that is modular, flexible and extremely cost effective.
Guardian’s ground breaking ‘Peel, Bond & Walk™’ technology is state of the art in its design, yet simple and easy to install, giving it an immediate practical appeal and extensive usage possibilities.
Guardian Tactiles are fully safety-compliant and can be incorporated into new or existing areas to aid the vision impaired. They have passed the CSIRO Slip Resistance Tests and meet the AS/NZS 4 586:1999 (Appendix D) Standards in Test Report No. 3411s dated 15 March 2007 with an R12 Rating. Guardian Tactiles are CSIRO tested (ASTM C1343) and approved to the Taber abrasive index level of 84.4. This equates to a wear resistance factor of about 3 times that of concrete.
