A: Our tactiles are self-adhesive however primer is recommended for outdoor installations or installations on to rough substrates. We also supply an installation guide with each order, which can also be accessed on our website.

A: Primer is recommended for outdoor installations to ensure no moisture gets underneath the tactiles and ruins the adhesive backing. It also helps to prevent the tactiles from lifting.

A: D Primer is for smooth substrates (concrete), while H Primer is for rough substrates (asphalt). Our installation guide helps outline which primer is required for any substrate.

A: In most cases, the tactiles will be as wide as the point of danger, and 2 rows of tactiles deep. For example, a pram ramp that is 1200mm wide would require 8 300x300 tactiles (2 rows of 4 tactiles each).

A: Black, Terracotta, Yellow and Medium Grey*

A: The tactiles must be installed 300mm back from the point of danger.

A: Tactiles are not required on stair landings where continuous handrails have been installed on both sides of the stair. We do recommend sending us photos or plans so that our estimating team can look at the stair case and quote accurately.

A: Yes. We have an option for screw fixed tactiles.

A: Yes. There must be a 30% luminance contrast between the tactile and the substrate. A yellow tactile on a black floor would be compliant, while a black tactile on a black floor would not comply with Australian Standards.

A: Warning Tactiles - Certified and classified as: Type B, dots, dimples, hazard and raised domes
Directional Tactiles - Certified and classified as: Type C, strips, dashes and stripes

A: In most cases, the tactiles will be as wide as the point of danger, and 600mm deep. For example, a staircase that is 1200mm wide would require 0.72m2 to the top and 0.72m2 to the bottom of the staircase.

A: We have two types of discrete tactiles. Adhesive-fixed Stud tactiles (adhesive not included on supply only orders) and pressure fit tactiles, which do not require any adhesive. Drilling templates are available.

A: We can supply you with as many as you require.

A: Yes it is possible. Please get in touch with our sales team so they can arrange a time to inspect the tactiles and provide you with a quotation.

A: Double-sided tape is recommended for all installations, as it helps to reduce any ‘clanking’ between the aluminium profile and the stair tread.

A: They come in 5800mm lengths, however we can cut to size to suit your needs.

A: The AS 1428.1 states that the contrasting colour strip (stair nosing insert) has to be a continuous 50-75mm wide. As the striped inserts are not continuous, they are not compliant. Feel free to contact a member of our team for more information.

A: For outdoor installations we recommend cutting the stair nosing 5-10mm short on each side. This leaves a ‘gutter gap’ that allows water to flow down the stairs and prevents pooling.

A: 1500mm above the ground from the centre of the sign, 50-75mm to the left/right of the door.

A: For low kerbs (lower than 150mm), wheel stops must be placed 620mm back for front parking & 900mm back for rear parking. This is measured from the front of the parking space to the point of contact with the vehicle tyre. For kerbs higher than 150mm, a further 200mm is added to the wheel stops distance.
